English version

The C. K. Norwid Culture Centre is a municipal institution located in Nowa Huta district of Krakow. Our mission is to activate and educate local communities, thus preparing them to participate in culture and to create its value. Main areas of our activity are: literature and readership, film, theatre, music, national history and traditions, education in ecology and Information Technology. For the last fifty years we have boasted a reputation of a solid and trustworthy local partner.

We engage actively in the processes of revitalization of Nowa Huta district. Through our undertakings we strive to strengthen the social potential and its collaborative growth. We cooperate with the Municipality of Krakow in implementation of The Local Programme of Revitalization (Lokalny Program Rewitalizacji) of the older parts of Nowa Huta as well as in conducting social consultations within the community. Our pedagogic activities have been included in the registry of educational services at the Voivodeship Office of Employment (Wojewódzki Urząd Pracy)

We seek to develop new initiatives and dynamically search for public funding. As a leader of Partnership of Initiatives for Nowa Huta (PIN – Partnerstwo Inicjatyw Nowohuckich) we devised a project „Nowa Huta – a New Chance“ (Nowa Huta – Nowa Szansa) which we subsequently succesfully implemented as a part of EQUAL - European Community Initiative Programme. We are an active member of various public schemes such as: Forum for Nowa Huta (Forum dla Nowej Huty) and Alliance for Entrepreneurship Development (Porozumienie na Rzecz Rozwoju Przedsiębiorczości w Krakowie). We are also a signatory and a member of the Malopolska Pact for Social Economy (Małopolski Pakt na Rzecz Ekonomii Społecznej).

We are the exclusive producer of Nowa Huta Newsreel (Nowohucka Kronika Filmowa) – a weekly seven minute chronicle documenting local affairs and profiles of renowned community members. It is is presented before each film screening at our cinema facility „Kino Sfinks“ as well as broadcasted on the regional television channel TVP3. The newsreel, as such, is a unique venture - not only countrywide but most likely worldwide, too.
"From the history of Nowa Huta" - a documentary film directed by Jerzy Ridan. The film will take you on a fascinating journey into history of this communist-designed "perfect industrial city".

At the core of our mission are services for senior community members, among which ever popular courses in computing call for mentioning. Our activities in this area have been recognized by the European Commission which resulted in our joining „ActiveICT“ project – a part of GRUNDTVIG - Long Life Learning Programme
